Conversations with Captivate is an ongoing series of dialogues with Captivate’s viewers and partners who are doing high profile work on important philanthropic initiatives. In each interview we highlight an individual or organization raising awareness and crafting solutions on some of today’s most pressing issues, and give our listeners and readers a chance to learn, get involved and contribute to the greater good.

For the latest installment of “Conversations with Captivate”, we sit down with Boomer Esiason to talk about his foundation: Boomer Esiason Foundation, or BEF (www.esiason.org). Boomer serves as Chairman and CEO of BEF, in a continued quest to raise funds, awareness, and support for the Cystic Fibrosis Community.

Boomer may be best known for his distinguished career as an NFL quarterback, playing 14 seasons between 1984 and 1997. Today he is the host of Boomer and Gio, the #1 morning sports talk show in New York. He also hosts NFL Today on CBS, and contributes to Inside the NFL on Showtime.

Outside of his busy sports schedule, Boomer’s passion lies in the work of his foundation, which focuses on advocating for the Cystic Fibrosis Community. Boomer’s son Gunnar was born with CF, one of the 30,000 Americans affected by the disease every year. Boomer started the foundation to raise awareness for, and support the community through fundraising, advocacy, scholarships, events, and other initiatives. The foundation wants to not only help eventually eradicate the disease, but to help people living with it today thrive, challenge themselves, be healthy, and lead productive, fulfilling lives.

May is Cystic Fibrosis awareness month, a great opportunity to open the aperture on Boomer’s foundation and its important work.
